January 2008

WELCOME EVERYONE!

And May You All Be Well…

Hello Lovelies ~

In gearing up for the New Year, it is only natural that one would find one’s self in reflection of the year past.

2007 was a very big year for us! And I am very pleased with what we were able to accomplish.

The completion and first publication of the Pink~a~Nose storybook… that was major!

The ever involved development of the Pink~a~Nose Website… that was major!

Our first public reading of The Pink~a~Nose storybook… that was major!

Not to mention, all the little-big things that happened in between, to include our first

Pink~a~Nose Quinceanera dolls!

WOW! 2007 was quite a year! And calming to the spirit being in the constant of creation!

So what’s up for this year? The mystery of it all… the endless possibilities that lay ahead.

I’d like to take this moment to share with you a bit of what we have been doing, acknowledge those that have played a substantial part, and what we are doing now, including upcoming events. So stay with me…

The Pink~a~Nose Children’s Charity…

Our first public reading took place at The Living Room this past Christmas Eve. The Living Room is a non-profit, day-time drop-in program specifically for at-risk women and their children here in Sonoma County. I really wanted to give some Pink~a~Nose and Pink~a~Nose storybooks as gifts to children that might not otherwise be receiving Christmas presents. The “plan” was that I would surprise the children with the Pink~a~Nose gifts. Yet, when I arrived, it was insisted that I also read the story. It was thrilling to be asked!

The Pink~a~Nose story and the Pink~a~Nose themselves were lovingly received. These beautiful children were smiling, giggling, and jumping up and down with excitement, which was the whole point! A total of 26 Pink~a~Nose and 20 Pink~a~Nose storybooks were given. The mothers of the children were so very appreciative and expressed their thankfulness over and over for doing this for the children. This truly touched my heart beyond words. It was quite the experience, much more than I thought it would be,

one filled with love and tears, a memory I will cherish.

The event was a success! I especially look forward to future involvement with this organization.

For more information on The Living Room and what they provide, or if you would like to make a donation, (they except many different types of donations) please go to www.thelivingroomsc.org.

Birthday Parties…

Our first reading at a birthday party was for Miss Melanie who was turning 8 years wise, here in Santa Rosa. Having just finished all the beadwork, I was actually able to wear my Pink~a~Nose costume for Melanie and her guests, which they complimented me on. So very happy that they liked it! Here too, the Pink~a~Nose were lovingly received. Upon completion of the story, the girls were filled up with questions. They also shared with me, their story ideas for the “next” Pink~a~Nose storybook! The birthday party was a success!

For all of the children I have read the story to, I am consistently amazed at how they instantly connect with the Pink~a~Nose. Twinkling eyes and sparkling smiles shoot straight to my heart! Interacting and engaging with the children is an entirely brilliant and captivating experience! They are so perceptive and receptive!

It’s fun to hear the adults in the room giggling too! What a pleasure it is, introducing the Pink~a~Nose…

~ THE LATEST & UPCOMING EVENTS   ~

We started off the New Year with a donation to Operation Iraqi Children. We sent off a few Pink~a~Nose and needed school-kits for the children of Iraq, Afghanistan, and Djibouti. This is a wonderful organization and in spreading the word, I would encourage you to visit their website at www.operationiraqichildren.org

The year begins at my workbench, designing and creating new custom Pink~a~Nose! It feels so calming to be back at the workbench… Over the past year, I have been gathering a variety of exquisite fabrics and quite the collection of magnificent beads. Itching to get started!!!

I am especially looking forward to more readings of the Pink~a~Nose storybook. We have just scheduled our next reading that will take place at The Valley of the Moon Children’s Home in February. The Valley of the Moon Children’s Foundation is a non-profit private organization that provides support and educational services to neglected and abused children. I will be visiting the children in their classroom and very much anticipating this to be a heartwarming experience.

For information on The Valley of the Moon, or to make donations, please visit www.vomchildrensfoundation.org

We are also looking forward to doing more birthday parties and charity events. And of course I will be jumping in and out of the designing for the Pink~a~Nose 2nd Edition… we have most of the fabrics needed, though still on the lookout for more.
